Home
everywhere & nowhere
How and where do you feel at home?
“No matter where we are in the world, we can take the feeling of being home with us.”
Deb Dana
Home can end up feeling like everywhere and nowhere.
To me, home is the house where I live with my husband and children in France. The small town where I grew up in the UK with my parents and childhood friends. The lake and forest where we lived in Switzerland for many years and where our children started their lives. And other places beside, where I have memories, stories and connections with wonderful people I have encountered at different times in my life.
A nomadic life means juggling the ambiguous feelings of joy and loss. A heart scattered in many places leaving traces of love wherever we go.
Soul home
Deb Dana talks about our everyday story of home: a morning routine, a dog walk out in nature, a weekly catch up with a friend. She also talks about a “soul feeling of home” – the kind of environment we feel called to and that our soul cries out for. For me, this is the forest. I feel in good company under the trees.
How do you experience home in your everyday life?
Where do you feel called to go – that your soul feels at home?
Do you resonate with a struggle to feel at home? This is why I have started creating The Wild Nest – to support you to feel more at home, wherever you are.
This space is for reflection and connection. Beyond writing, I also offer one-to-one counselling for individuals and couples, and am planning some group workshops. If you’d like some support, you are welcome to reach out to me here.
